K-pop That Always Cheers Me Up (Pt. 1)

I'm not really much of a blogger. I've tried it a couple times, manage to write a few posts, but over time I get busy and I forget about that sad little blog I created, and it gets lost in the never ending abyss that is the internet. I'm a college student in my early twenties, and I have severe manic depression that is often times crippling. But there are a few things that always make me feel happy, no matter how I'm feeling at that low point in my day. Most of these things have to do with...You guessed it, K-pop. I created this blog because I had been thinking, other than tumblr, there is no place where I can have a culmination of my favorite things without being judged by others. I can't really flood my facebook with K-pop and other interests, because sadly it annoys a lot of people. Twitter is good sometimes, but the small amount of text allowed is just not enough to get my feelings across. So I thought about it, and finally I came around to that age old idea, 'Hey, why don't I try to start a blog again?' Yeah.. probably a lame idea, but I'm giving it a shot anyways! So in today's post, I'm going to list some of my top favorite K-pop bands and songs, those things that pick me up when I am down!

                                                      1. EXO-K/EXO-M

While I'm a big fan of the Growl era, personally my favorite EXO songs would be MAMA and Overdose. A lot of people knock on the Overdose era, but for me, not only was the song amazing in both Korean and Chinese, but the choreography blows me away. And I can't lie, Tao's flip at the end always gets me more giddy than I should be proud of. It's actually very Rare for me to love a k-pop boy band over a girl band. Ever since I was little, I've preferred the sounds of female vocals. So hats off to you EXO! The combination of your personalities and talent has bumped you into the number 1 spot in my heart. I'm so sad that this year has been awful for you guys. EXO FIGHTING!! <3

2. SNSD (Girls' Generation)

Okay, so I might be a little SM biased, so sue me! Before Exo was in my life, there was SNSD. Of course it was 'Gee' that introduced me to them back in the day, but ever since, I've been in love! My bias's are Taeyeon, Hyoyeon, and SooYoung, but up there with them was Jessica. I have been heartbroken since her departure, and I can't listen to GG without becoming sad when Sica's parts come up. She is simply irreplaceable. However, I am SONE, and I must go on. I will still support my girls no matter what. Though, I won't hold my breath for Sica's return, SM is pretty bad about changing their minds. As for favorite songs, I have to say, IGAB, Mr.Mr, Paparazzi, The Boys, Genie....I could go on, but I better stop.

3. AOA (Ace of Angels)

Yeah, they're pretty new to the scene. But seriously, I have been hooked on these girls since they dropped 'Miniskirt' earlier this year. AOA + Brave Sound have been seriously killing it hit after hit. So yeah, of course I like Miniskirt, Short Hair, and now Like a Cat. They have serious talent, and I believe they can really get big, this year's success is just the beginning for these girls. I can't lie, I'm in love with Jimin's nasally rapping voice. I don't know why, but I always tend to gravitate towards that sound. Their music is sassy, sexy, and fun. they truly have their own sound, so I suggest giving them a chance if you haven't already!

4. Hyuna (4Minute)

I remember when she debuted her single, Change. At first I REALLY hated it. But I listened a few more times, and before i knew it, it was stuck in my head ALL the time. Honestly, I wasn't a fan of her Ice Cream era, but Bubble Pop was great and catchy, and when she came back with Hyunseung as Trouble Maker, I lost it. My heart was gone. Captured by these beautiful people. Pretty much, I've come to love anything involving Hyuna. She's gorgeous, she's a bit derpy and lovable, and girl can DANCE. And again, she has that nasally sound that I love. I think the whole 'A Talk' album is great. Red is fun and sexy at the same time. Trouble Maker's Now was on loop on my phone for DAYS. Hyuna is seriously my queen.

5. EXID

So these girls are so seriously under rated it hurts me. I'm happy that they've received a sudden burst in recognition from the Hani fancam, but I think they should have been noticed a LOT sooner. These girls have amazing talent, vocally and choreographically. I first discovered them when they dropped Every Night. It became my JAM. It's one of those songs that I will never skip if it comes on shuffle. It was then I looked back at their previous songs, and I thought, pretty good. When Up and Down dropped, I was excited beyond words- FINALLY, my girls are BACK. I was disappointed for only a single though. I hope that sooner rather than later they drop a mini or full album! I can't get enough of LE's super sassy rapping!
